About Chaco Culture
Chaco Culture National Historical Park has run astronomy programs since 1991, longer than almost any other unit in the National Park System, because the Ancestral Puebloans who built its great houses tracked the sun, moon and stars with remarkable precision. Its position deep in a remote stretch of New Mexico backcountry keeps the sky essentially unspoiled.
