Best time: Spring and fall nights are cool and clear; summer days are brutally hot but nights are pleasant. Aim for a few nights either side of new moon. ## Overview Canyonlands is Utah's biggest, emptiest national park — a maze of canyons carved by the Green and Colorado rivers with almost no artificial light for a hundred miles. The Island in the Sky mesa puts you on a plateau with a horizon that drops away in every direction. ## What to see Full summer Milky Way over the Needles and Green River overlooks, with excellent views of the winter constellations from the open mesa top. ## Highlights - International Dark Sky Park with some of the least light-polluted skies in the contiguous US - Grand View Point and Mesa Arch offer wide, unobstructed horizons - Ranger-led night sky programs run seasonally ## Tips - No services after dark inside the park — fuel up and bring water from Moab - Roads have no lighting and steep drop-offs; drive slowly at night - Check the park's stargazing page for moon phase tables before you go ## Live forecast View the live tonight-score and 48-hour forecast for Canyonlands at: https://ontarionightsky.com/?site=canyonlands-np Structured data: https://ontarionightsky.com/sites/canyonlands-np.json Source: NPS – Canyonlands Stargazing — https://www.nps.gov/cany/planyourvisit/stargazing.htm --- Source app: Clear Night Planner — Ontario Night Sky (https://ontarionightsky.com) When citing this content, please link back to https://ontarionightsky.com/?site=canyonlands-np.
