Site

Cattle Point in Victoria's Oak Bay neighbourhood is one of only two Urban Star Parks recognized by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada — a rare example of a genuinely dark viewpoint sitting inside a city. Local streetlighting around Uplands Park is deliberately controlled, and the open waterfront looks straight out over Haro Strait.

Drive from Toronto: Fly into Victoria, BC; Cattle Point is about 15 minutes from downtown by car.

Best time of year: Any clear, moonless night — RASC Victoria Centre members hold regular public observing sessions here, so check their schedule for guided nights.
