Fundy National Park sits above the highest tides on Earth, and its RASC Dark-Sky Preserve designation gives you a reason to stay past sunset: the same fog-scrubbed Bay of Fundy air that makes for dramatic daytime views also makes for very transparent night skies. Saint John's astronomy club runs an annual StarGaze weekend here that's open to the public.
Drive from Toronto: ≈ 15 hours east via Quebec and Highway 2 into New Brunswick, then Route 114 to Alma.
Best time of year: Late summer and early autumn — drier air off the Bay and the annual Fundy Park StarGaze event (hosted with the Saint John Astronomy Club) typically runs in this window.
