Geauga Park District's Observatory Park, east of Cleveland, grew out of the donation of a historic telescope and now anchors a certified Dark Sky Park with the relocated Nassau Observatory at its center. It's designed from the ground up to limit light pollution, and it's genuinely free to walk in and set up a scope any clear night.

Drive from Toronto: Located at 10610 Clay Street in Montville Township, Geauga County, OH, east of Cleveland.

Best time of year: Any clear night — the park is self-serve for astronomy outside of scheduled programs, which run through much of the year.
