Grand Teton sits right beside Teton County, Wyoming — the world's first International Dark Sky Community, certified in 2025 after a decade of lighting work by the county, the Town of Jackson, and local dark-sky advocates. The park itself actively studies and manages its outdoor lighting to protect the view of the Tetons against a starry sky.

Drive from Toronto: Just south of Yellowstone in northwestern Wyoming, about 30 minutes north of Jackson, Wyoming via Highway 191.

Best time of year: Late summer and fall for clear, dry nights; the Teton Range gives a dramatic jagged foreground for Milky Way photography.
