Site

Kaibab National Forest wraps around both rims of the Grand Canyon, and its high-elevation ponderosa pine plateaus offer wide, dark, easily accessible skies without the crowds of the canyon rim itself.

Drive from Toronto: Fly into Phoenix or Las Vegas, then drive 3.5–5 hours depending on which section of the forest (North Kaibab vs. Williams/Tusayan district) you're headed to.

Best time of year: Summer through fall, new moon — the North Kaibab plateau closes with winter snow.
