South Downs is the darkest DarkSky Reserve within 90 minutes of London — a rare feat in one of Europe's brightest regions. Chalk downland ridges shield the core zones from the coastal glow.

Drive from Toronto: ≈ 90 min from central London via the A3 or M23.

Best time of year: October–March. Aim for the 3–4 nights around each new moon and pick a spot on the far side of a ridge from Portsmouth/Brighton.
